The RxCelerate group is an out-sourced drug development platform specialising in the design and delivery of complete drug discovery and development programs and project management for our clients, spanning from an idea up to and including Phase II clinical studies.

RxCelerate have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated scientist to join our newly acquired proteomics team in delivering ProQuant™, our world-leading platform for performing LC-MS/MS bottom-up proteomics with exceptional precision.

The Role

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in quantitative biology. They will support the delivery of proteomics projects to clients and internal programmes. The main duty will be to process LC-MS/MS data from proteomic experiments. These protocols are complex multi-stage processes involving different software applications, both commercial applications and internally developed algorithms.

Our work is varied, so some specifications for data processing will be bespoke for individual projects, and therefore an ability to develop new code using R or python would be an advantage though not essential.

Main Responsibilities

• Processing raw LC-MS/MS data to deliver proteomics data for clients

• Supporting the proteomics team in the planning and organisation of the complete experimental pipeline, including liaising with other teams both within and outside RxCelerate

• Depending on experience and/or provided training, it is anticipated that the successful applicant will be involved in the subsequent analysis of resulting data, with reporting of results to the project team and/or external clients

Skills/Requirements

Essential

• A degree in a biological science with at least three years experience in scientific research, whether practical or bioinformatics, either as part of a PhD course or within employment

• The role holder must have a highly organised and meticulous work ethic

• Highly technically proficient with general IT, undaunted by tackling new applications

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

• It is also critical that the appointee is a comfortable working in a small team, as well as highly effective at working independently

• An ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively is essential

• Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn

Desirable

• A PhD in a biological science

• Experience in the use of or delivery of proteomics or other high plex ‘omics technology

• Experience in LC-MS/MS

• Experience in the handling of large datasets and processing through multi-stage protocols

• Ability to design and undertake statistical analysis of large complex datasets

• Ability to code in e.g. R, Python
