How do we use your data?

When you become engaged with Babraham Research Campus Ltd.

When you become engaged with Babraham Research Campus Ltd, we will use your personal information to process your enquiry, interest or formal relationship. The details we collect from you when you become engaged with us will include:

We share your personal information within our business and with our subcontractors who are involved in the Campus services such as conferencing and catering provision, marketing agencies, security service providers and if required any regulatory authorities, home office, or environmental..

We need to process your personal information in this way to register your interest and provide the ongoing communication in respect of your interest, services and benefits to you, as described more fully below. More detail on these specific circumstances is set out below.

When you attend one of our Events

When you attend one of our events (such as the Babraham Investor Conference, Business advice clinics, workshops, seminars and training), we will collect the following information from you: name, address, email address, phone number, employer/academic institution and invoicing details. If you are already registered to attend an event, we will use the membership details we already hold on file for you to confirm your booking or registration. The details we collect from you will include your name, address, company and invoicing details and other contact details. We need to use your personal information in this way to complete the booking contract between us.

We provide a delegate list containing your name and company to the organisations and other individuals who attend our events. We do this because our events provide a useful networking opportunity and we have a legitimate interest in wanting to help build and develop the scientific community. You can object to us using your information in this way by contacting us.

When you attend one of our company showcases

When you attend one of our company showcases (such as an exhibition), we will collect the following information from you: name, address, employer/academic institution and invoicing details. If you are already a member and register to attend an event, we will use the details we already hold on file for you to confirm your booking.

The details we collect from you will include your name, address, company details, as well as your phone number and email address. We need to use your personal information in this way to complete the booking contract between us.

When you phone or email us

When you phone us or contact us by email with general queries, we may also handle your personal information (your name, contact details and the other details you provide to us) in order to provide the customer services you have asked us to. This could be when you ask us to provide more information about our services and facilities.

Other than in the circumstances described in this section below, we rely on your consent to handle your personal information in this way. If you do not provide us with the personal information we request from you for customer services purposes, we may not be able to fully answer your queries.

If you are phoning us in connection with a service we are contracted to provide to you, then we need to handle your data in this way to perform the contract in place between us.

When you have expressed an interest in any of our services or facilities:

When you apply to be part of Accelerate@Babraham

We will handle your personal information (such as your name, company name, email address, company postal address, telephone number, qualifications, work experience and sector preferences ) to provide you with information on Accelerate@Babraham and the services it offers, in particular applications made to the Programme Competition.

In addition to personal information, we will collect outline business details including the name and contact details of other members of management, cofounding teams and shareholders to be able to fully consider applications. Your data will be stored on your application record and on other IT systems (including email) and will be shared with third parties on our Judging Panel as part of the interview panel for the process for which you have applied for.

If your application to Accelerate@Babraham is unsuccessful, we will hold your data for 12 months after the end of the relevant application process. After this period your data will be deleted or destroyed.

If your application is successful and you join the Accelerate@Babraham Programme, under a contractual relationship with us, data gathered during the process will be held during the period of the 3 month Programme and for 12 months thereafter or until the agreement expires whichever is the sooner after which the data will be deleted or destroyed unless we have a continued formal relations with you such as a Lease Agreement.

We need to use your data in this way to assess your application and enter into the Accelerate@Babraham contract with you.

When you are interested in a Commercial Property Lease or access to scientific and technical facilities on the Campus

We will handle your personal information (such as your name, company name, email address, company postal address, telephone number and sector preferences) to provide you with information on Commercial Property Leases, space availability and the services we offer. Upon initial enquiry, we will ask you to complete an application form to collect personal information, we will collect outline business details including personal details of other members of management, cofounding teams and shareholders to be able to fully consider applications. Your data will be stored on your application record and on other IT systems (including email) and will be shared with third parties such as our sub contractors who provide IT services, including data storage, and marketing agencies, for the interest or process for which you have applied for.

If your application is unsuccessful, we will hold your data for 12 months after the end of the relevant application process. After this period your data will be deleted or destroyed.

If your application is successful and you join the Campus as a Tenant, data gathered during the process will be held during the period of your Lease and then retained for 6 years after which the data will be deleted or destroyed unless we have a continued formal relationship with you.
We need to use your data in this way to assess your application and enter into the relevant contract you have asked us to/are applying for.

When you apply for a Job with us

We collect and process personal data relating to job applications in a variety of ways, including through Covering letters, CVs, right to work documentation, interviews or other forms of assessment.

The information we collect about you includes:

Your data will be stored on your application record and on other IT systems (including email) and, where necessary to process your application, will be shared with HR and the interview panel for the role you have applied for.
We will not use your identifiable personal data for any purpose other than the recruitment exercise for which you have applied.

If your application for employment is unsuccessful, we will hold your data for 12 months after the end of the relevant recruitment process. After this period your data will be deleted or destroyed.

If your application for employment is successful, data gathered during the recruitment process will be transferred to your Human Resources file (electronic and paper based) and retained during your employment.

We rely on your consent to handle your job application. You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide data as part of the application process however, if you do not provide the information, we may be unable to process your application.

Visitors to our website

When you visit our website, we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to various parts of the website. The information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone.
