Secure your space within ‘the place’ to be…Babraham Research Campus

30/01/2025

Companies based at Babraham Research Campus raise 20% more investment, six months faster compared to those located elsewhere and strong investor confidence in the Campus’ well-established and highly specialised ecosystem attracts substantial investment. To date Campus companies have raised £1.6bn of commercial investment and the growing number of high-value companies locating here (current collective valuation of those companies = £3.15bn) fosters an exciting cycle of innovation, creating a healthier ecosystem and perpetuating better science outcomes, resulting in improved human health.*

This strong legacy of success not only directly benefits the Campus community but also positively impacts the immediate local community, the wider Cambridge life science cluster, and the broader UK economy.

Join one of the most respected campuses within the bioscience community

Home to more than 60 bioscience companies, alongside the prestigious Babraham Institute, Babraham Research Campus is cultivating an ecosystem where world-class science and research can flourish. Boasting a collective workforce of more than 2000 professionals and 300 academic researchers, this community of like-minded people is pushing the boundaries of bioscience and creating a lasting impact within the life sciences sector.

The well-established 430-acre campus plays a pivotal role within the Cambridge life science community and as such, space rarely comes to the market. Interested parties are therefore encouraged to move swiftly to take advantage of the myriad opportunities for collaboration, access to scientific support services, networking, and life-long learning that being part of the Campus community affords.

The Moneta and Meditrina Buildings: ‘Starting out’ space

Developed as flexible bioscience incubator space that is capable of sub-division into several different sized tenancies, options are available from 600 sq ft comprising wet laboratory and office/write-up areas. The buildings also offer meeting room / open plan meeting areas with seating to the ground floor.

The Bennet Building: Space to ‘scale and grow’

The Bennet Building offers 20,000 sq ft of fully fitted adaptable wet lab and office space and is filling up fast. Of the six suites originally available, just two now remain:

  • 3,638 sq ft (338 sq m) of ground floor fitted wet laboratory, office/write-up and meeting space.
  • 2,207 sq ft (205 sq m) ground floor office space.

The laboratory specification includes fully fitted Romero furniture including:

  • Trespa-top benches.
  • Mobile under bench units.
  • Toprack shelving system.

There is also provision for low flow fume cupboards. In addition, occupiers will also have access to a liquid nitrogen store, with oxygen depletion monitoring and alarms linked to a mechanical ventilation system.

Communal facilities within the building include a dedicated comms room and a shared freezer and cold room on the second floor.  In addition, the ground floor also benefits from an impressive central entrance atrium and self-service café providing a selection of sandwiches, salads, confectionary, hot and cold beverages.

The Eddeva Building: Ideal ‘next step’ space

An impressive three-storey building, Eddeva comprises wet laboratory, office-write-up and meeting room spaces to the ground and first floors.  The multi-let building currently has 4,361 sq ft (405 sq m) of ground floor space available - ideally suited to the unique demands of small to medium size biotech companies. Key features include:

  • Fully fitted with Romero laboratory furniture and perimeter benching laid out in modular arrangement to aid flexibility.
  • Air Source Heat Pumps for heating and cooling.
  • High efficiency LED lighting, coupled with PIR sensing fitted to all office, laboratory and circulation areas.

Communal facilities include a dedicated -80 degrees centigrade freezer room and dedicated comms room. An external compressed gas store with pipework service routes into the building enabling piped-in gas supplies.

Supporting the day-to-day

In addition to the exceptional lab facilities and associated support services, Campus occupiers also have access to the Campus’ central amenity within the Cambridge Building. This communal space is home to the Campus restaurant, café and bar. It also provides a flexible arrangement of meeting rooms as well as the 200-seat Petersfield lecture theatre, which caters for both private and free-to-attend events, seminars and networking - many of which focus on introducing Campus occupiers to the wider Campus/Cambridge network of stakeholders, investors and those ‘who have been there and done it multiple times before’ who are happy to share their experiences.

The stunning parkland setting, sports & social club and gym further encourage and enhance a healthy work/life balance.
