We are seeking a skilled Senior Bioinformatic Developer to contribute to pipeline and platform development across a range of projects and data types. This role will act to support the pursuit of scientific research from early-stage target discovery and validation to lead optimisation and candidate selection. In this role you will contribute to and lead efforts on developing tools, building analytical pipelines, and designing and delivering data infrastructure. This work will require innovative thinking, a co-creation mindset and collaborative partnering with a multidisciplinary team including biologists, chemists, human geneticists, platform developers and data scientists.ResponsibilitiesChange the way scientific decisions are made by helping to build a data platform and supporting ecosystem tasked with putting the maximal amount of high quality and informative data before our decision makers.Be a key player in a medium sized dynamic team, designing and maintaining critical bioinformatic platforms, tools and pipelines to help solve scientific problemsRaise the bar for coding standards, ensuring delivery of production quality, thoroughly tested, and easily maintainable code.Collaborate on the design and implementation of a flexible bioinformatic web-ecosystem empowering our wet lab scientists and data scientists to get more out of their data.Engineer, optimise, and validate internal pipelines to be flexible, scalable, and configurable while maintaining high quality standards.Take the lead on project delivery communicating project updates clearly and transparently to key decision makers.What we are looking forPhD (or equivalent experience) in bioinformatics, biology, genetics, medicine, machine learning, statistics, computer science or a similar area coupled with some bioinformatic experience gained in industry.Experience coding collaboratively and using git as part of a larger collaborative project.Experience delivering production quality python code.Experience with a python testing framework (e.g. pytest, unittest)Experience building tools that read and write from a database.Experience working with containerised solutions.Knowledge of, and experience in, at least one of the following: API development, front end development, ETL pipelines or event-queue managers.This role will require you to work from our brand-new state-of-the-art offices and labs situated in Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridge.
