We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join F-star’s In vivo Team in the Biology Department, using their Home Office Personal Licence to support in the generation of high quality in vivo & ex vivo data.

The role will involve executing preclinical studies as part of a team, with the intent to generate data to support the discovery and development of therapies to benefit patients with cancer.


To bring expertise and apply knowledge of animal care and welfare to support the execution of in vivo studies as part of a team.

Post-trial collection of tissues and a keen interest in the analysis.

To be a main point of contact to Project Representatives, Project Licence Holder and BSU staff, where appropriate.

To design, co-ordinate and execute a diverse range of experiments for in vivo investigations of novel therapeutic antibodies and antibody fragments, as part of a team.

To support the execution of studies involving preclinical murine models of cancer.

To ensure experiments and data management activities result in robust high-quality data to inform decision-making on projects.

Candidate will be based within the In vivo Team which will provide development opportunities within the drug discovery process.

Operate items of equipment or IT as needed for experimentation, data entry, storage and analysis. 

Contribute to the maintenance of reagents and general lab facilities, and preparation of consumables for studies.

Animal Care qualifications at Level 2 IAT or higher or equivalent qualifications/experience.

Evidence of using a Home Office Personal Licence for a minimum of approximately 1 year with murine procedure experience.

Study monitoring to collect precise and robust data.

Collection of tissues and a keen interest to learn the analysis.

Keen to learn record keeping/data collection techniques to a high standard during multiple on-going in vivo trials.

A strong desire to learn and develop within a dynamic and changing environment using problem solving skills.

Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team, both in person and virtually as the work requires.


Basic administration of substances (for example, intraperitoneal and subcutaneous routes) and in-life sampling techniques, although training will be provided.

Measurement of tumour volumes with callipers and use of electronic data collection software.

An understanding of study co-ordination/management.

Understanding of preclinical research, particularly in the field of oncology

This role is to be based from our laboratories and office space based on the Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridgeshire, UK. This is a full-time time position working 37.5 hours per week.
