YOUR ROLE IN OUR TEAM:We are looking for a Research / Senior Research Associate to join our Protein Sciences Team. This role is for a 12-month period in the first instance. You will be a key part of the Protein sciences group working in a laboratory-based role and be responsible for expression of recombinant proteins in mammalian cell lines. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:• Design and execute cloning of fusion proteins, antibodies and bi-specific mAb2 for expression in mammalian cells using DNA assembly technologies in a timely manner.• Produce and purify endotoxin free expression plasmids.• Perform lab-scale transient expression of fusion proteins, antibodies and bispecific mAb2 in mammalian cell systems (HEK293).• Maintain, expand and cryopreserve cell banks.• Contribute to the maintenance of reagents and general lab facilities.• Analyse and critically interpret data to draw results driven conclusions. • Utilise understanding of recombinant protein expression to make proactive recommendations based on comprehensive interpretation of results.A BIT ABOUT YOU:We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, keen to learn and confident in delivering work with limited supervision. You’ll be organised with strong attention to detail with an ability to keep clear records. You will be able to maintain rigid controls and analysis during multiple experiments. Strong communication skills are important along with the proven ability to work well within teams, both in person and in a virtual environment. This is a busy role with deadlines to meet and so you’ll be able to prioritise your workload and adapt quickly to change when needed. YOUR SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:Demonstrates knowledge of technical principles, processes, and concepts, related to recombinant protein expression.Essential: • Relevant experience in protein expression (molecular biology and cell culture).• Knowledge and hands-on experiences in molecular biology techniques and vector design for expression of antibodies in mammalian systems (DNA manipulation, cloning, sequence alignment and analysis).• Hands-on experience in transient expression of recombinant proteins using mammalian cell systems (HEK293 and CHO).Desired: • Understanding of cell line generation process conforming to bioproduction requirement would be beneficial.Education and Experience:• Theoretical and practical scientific/technical knowledge of at least a relevant Bachelor of Science degree and/or a combination of education and experience.• Good track record of relevant hands-on, lab-based experience ideally in industryWHAT WE CAN OFFER TO YOU:We get things done, we keep things simple, and we’re driven by the science. Our laboratories and office space are based on the Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridgeshire. This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week.
