We are looking for a Data Acquisition Specialis to lead and manage the transfer of pre-clinical, clinical and related data from external CRO partners into our internal databases. You will liaise with cross-functional project teams to import, QC, document and ensure the integrity of data collected by CRO partners. This role will also involve implementing and extending internal capability for managing pre-clinical, clinical and other data. You will be proactive in suggesting solutions and improvements to the systems and fostering data management best practices.  


  • Manage the specification, transfer, integration and storage of pre-clinical & clinical biomarker data obtained from CRO partners & public sources.
  • Manage integrity, validation & storage of data, develop and implement data management best practices across F-Star.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams, stakeholders and CRO partners to establish data transfer requirements.
  • Perform QC checks on and validate imported data to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Prepare data for, and liaise with, bioinformaticians and project teams to enable data analyses.
  • Manage & administer access to data.
  • Manage deployment and support the development & maintenance of internal databases & bioinformatics resources.

We’re looking for someone who is a fast learner, highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team. You’ll be organised with strong attention to detail and confident at problem solving. Communication skills are important along with the ability to understand other peoples needs.  


  • Scientific, Informatics or Engineering background with practical data management & manipulation experience.
  • Knowledge of R & R-Shiny, Python.
  • Knowledge of relational databases & SQL.


  • Familiarity with biological datasets, clinical datasets, SAS file data extraction.
  • Knowledge of statistics, bioinformatics, data analytics (e.g. Spotfire, Tableau), machine learning.
  • Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript, Java, etc).
  • Experience of working in a GxP environment, computer systems validation, GAMP5/6.
  • Development and deployment of software & data pipelines and experience of cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of defining data standards, use of ontologies and application of FAIR data principles.

This role is to be based in Cambridge, UK. Our laboratories and office space are based on the Babraham Research Campus, South Cambridgeshire.
