Your role in our team:

The newly formed Cellular Phenotyping team is looking for a self-motivated Research Assistant with experience in flow cytometry and the ability to work to a high standard. As Research Assistant you will support and assist in research and development into methods to derive specific cell types from human pluripotent stem cells.

Your key responsibilities will include:

You will primarily focus on assisting with flow cytometry, in particular standard operations, scientific support in experimental set up, acquisition, analysis and instrument maintenance. You will have a good understanding of flow cytometry and a willingness to extend competence in cell phenotyping or a great drive to learn and quickly be able to demonstrate independence in the planning and delivery of the role.

You…

• Have a Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field of Biological Sciences, or equivalent experience

• Have a good understanding of flow cytometry and willingness to extend competency in cell phenotyping OR a great drive to learn and quickly demonstrate independence in the planning and delivery of the role

• Are enthusiastic and self-motivated with a passion for scientific impact and learning new techniques

• Are a strong communicator, able to interact at all levels and explain scientific concepts clearly

• Are motivated to provide an excellent service to Scientists whilst influencing the set up of good working practices and standards

With essential experience in...

• Cellular phenotyping, in particular flow cytometry, within either an academic or biotech setting

• An understanding of the principles of flow cytometry

• Demonstrable training and practical experience of laboratory processes involving flow cytometry

• Flow cytometry analysis software such as FlowJo, FCSExpress, Cytobank etc

and possibly...

• Demonstrable work with human stem cells or understanding of human cells, stem cells and/or complex cell culture systems

• Previous experience with cell sorting

• Demonstrable experience of interaction with flow cytometry facilities

• Experienced in the completion of scientific projects involving data analysis
