Your role in our team:

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to join our Operations team reporting into the VP of Operations. This hands on role is responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of the day-to-day operational activities within bit.bio. Utilising best practice methodologies, the post holder will manage internal and external service providers - including facility and equipment maintenance, servicing and onboarding. Promoting organisational health & safety practises to ensure the delivery of high-quality service will be a major facet of this role. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders including and not limited to lab-based functions, Health, Safety & Environment, Quality, Logistics and Operations. Ensure cross functional solutions and provision of an agile and business responsive service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the sourcing of suppliers and scheduling of maintenance orders, ensuring all service requests are completed on time. Manage, maintain and review the bit.bio asset/equipment list, service contracts, warranties and routine maintenance.

• Take a lead role in determining the specifications and requirements for new laboratory equipment and capital infrastructure, including but not limited to; sourcing, installation, maintenance and delivery.

• Be responsible for ensuring that the facilities standard operating procedures, risk assessments & COSHH documentation are up to date and relevant, where appropriate. Ensure the department is compliant with current health and safety legislation.

• Lead in and be a major point of contact for coordinating the activities of several internal teams that support day to day laboratory functions. Working across multiple groups and stakeholders, provide a coherent and cohesive laboratory support service, ensuring best practices are upheld. Develop a strong 'esprit de corps', an agile and flexible framework, provide positive solutions and outcomes.

• Lead in and be a major point of contact for coordinating the activities of several external parties, which may include buildings management services, outside contractors and ad-hoc agents - provide regulatory compliance, SOPs, protocols, and documentation.

• Establish and manage an on-call rota in response to an emergency situation during out of hours responding to critical alarms and restore facility operations to a safe and reliable state. Be responsible for ensuring practices are in place to ensure business continuity.

• Promote a proactive culture, seek continual improvement, maintain systems and services at a high standard through coaching and mentoring junior members of the team, providing technical and managerial support, horizon scanning and troubleshooting.

• Have extensive experience in facilities or laboratory management and coordination, preferably in a scientific or regulated environment.

• Are process oriented and experienced in developing, optimising & implementing workflows, protocols, procedures and resources.

• Have demonstrable experience in developing and leading a high-performing cross functional team.

• Are a driven, proactive team player.

• Are persuasive and have a proven ability to influence strategic thinking and immediate actions.

• Are a problem solver.

With essential experience in…

• Working knowledge of equipment calibration and maintenance, including commissioning, test standards, troubleshooting and repairs.

• Working in a scientific / regulated environment.

• Having a customer focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.

• Having leadership skills and team management, maintaining good relationships with internal & external stakeholder.

• Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills.

…and possibly…

• Working knowledge of occupational H&S regulations and practices in the UK (HSG65, Fire Regulations etc.).

• Hold a NEBOSH / IOSH qualification.

• Working with a quality or integrated management system.
