Thursday 21st September 2023: Cementing its position as one of the best places to start-up and scale-up a life sciences venturein Europe, Babraham Research Campus today announced the launch of its new LiveLabs initiative.

Speaking during the Babraham Investor Conference, Dr Kathryn Chapman, Director Science & Entrepreneurship at Babraham Research Campus launched the LiveLabs space - a new opportunity for early-stage life science companies to access fully serviced and equipped labs via short-term, flexible membership options. Ideal for those needing hot-benching space for a few key experiments, or allocated bench space to accommodate growing teams of up to eight people, the investor conference audience were encouraged to consider LiveLabs as a route to bench for their portfolio companies and an ideal entry point for new ventures to experience and become emersed in the supportive and well-connected Babraham Research Campus ecosystem.

Kathryn also introduced Promega as the inaugural sponsor of LiveLabs. Promega, a  leading provider of innovative solutions and technical support to the life sciences industry has generously supplied a significant piece of equipment - a GloMaxTM microplate reader - along with full training, maintenance and support for all scientists in LiveLabs and across the Campus.

Kathryn commented of Promega’s sponsorship: “LiveLabs gives companies access to key equipment and facilities so they can use their early investments for advice, consultancy and consumables for experiments rather than capital spend. Promega’s sponsorship of LiveLabs will provide companies with access to the latest technologies and related support, which is so important when they are carrying out their key proof of concept experiments. We really appreciated the sponsorship and support from Promega, it’s a very important partnership for us.”

Patrick Budd, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Sales Specialist, Promega added: “I am delighted that Promega are sponsoring LiveLabs at Babraham Research Campus. The team’s dedication to developing a collaborative research community on Campus is something Promega believe is key to any successful research. We hope to be an active member in the community by bringing equipment and events, such as the Biologics Symposium on 9th November 2023, to the companies based on Campus to help achieve that goal.”
