At bit.bio, we are passionate about engineering human cells that will enable the medicines of the future.
To achieve this goal we recognise that the recruitment and retention of talented and curious people who want to make an impact on the future of science and therapeutics are key. We are a team of individuals who value science, collaboration, openness, curiosity and creativity.
We trust our people to make significant contributions early on with opportunities to be involved in projects that are key to the success and growth of our young company. We invest in people, creating opportunities for personal development in an inclusive multi-skilled team with ambitious goals that provide opportunities to learn on the job from each other.
As a company, we recognise the importance of providing greater clarity to all employees on the differentiators between each of the job levels in terms of the scope and accountability and the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours required. We have therefore developed a career framework to provide employees with detailed expectations regarding each role, enabling them to easily identify routes of progression.
As part of our wellbeing strategy employees also have access to a variety of health and wellbeing services, such as counselling sessions and private GP and all managers undergo ‘Managing mental health at work’ training with Mind to ensure they recognise and support their reports. ‘Wellness Wednesdays’ provide advice to employees on a weekly basis covering financial, mental and physical wellbeing and our new Intranet site has an area for each of these key areas to add further support.
The company recognises that it is important to enable employees to be able to share their opinions, give constructive feedback and suggestions and also input into specific matters relating to the company and to that end we operate a monthly feedback survey, which enables employees to provide feedback on a variety of areas, including strategy, communication, workload, manager support, and wellbeing.
bit.bio is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the highest quality employees. Vital to pursuing this aim is the recognition of employees for exceptional performance, behaviour and achievements. We have partnered with Awardco to provide a single, simple-to-use system that integrates with Amazon to offer employees the largest reward network ever. Our employees can have fun recognising their peers, and enjoy redeeming points for things they value.
We also like to take opportunities to celebrate our successes, build team spirit and just have fun, so socialising is an important part of building our culture. We have regular end-of-week get-togethers, and more elaborate events organised by our social committee such as our Halloween social event which included pumpkin carving and a prize for the best outfit, and our Christmas party where all employees received a Christmas hamper.
When applying for a role at bit.bio, candidates will interact with a range of people from the business, so that they can fully understand our mission and values, meet future colleagues and gain an insight into what it is like to work for our company.
