The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) has launched a consultation on active travel and possible corridors for investment and would like to hear from you.
The GCP wants to encourage active travel across Greater Cambridge. Active travel is defined in the Local Transport Plan as “physically active modes such as cycling, walking, or horse riding. It also includes walking or cycling as part of a longer journey”.
In March 2021 we published a study on Active Travel Opportunities as part of our Future Investment Strategy It identified 13 cycle corridors that have a significant amount of cycle traffic within Cambridge and the Greater Cambridge area and which could benefit from improvements as part of creating a joined up active travel network.
As part of the consultation we want to find out:
The GCP has an indicative budget of £20 million to spend on the active travel network. This could help to fund schemes on two or three of the 13 identified corridors.
The consultation closes at Midday on Monday 16 August 2021. Full details of the consultation can be accessed at www.greatercambridge.org.uk/cycling-plus.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the consultation is being run online. If you, or someone you know, would rather share their views over the telephone please call 01223 699906 and an operator will go through the consultation survey with you and record your responses.
Views can also be share with us by email to email@example.com
The GCP Executive Board will consider the outcome of the consultation in winter 2021/22.
